About the Author

Jerry R. Thomas is an EdD. He is the dean of the College of Education at the University of North Texas. In addition to writing the previous editions of this book, Thomas has authored more than 200 publications, 120 of which are refereed publications. He was named a lecturer for his research in 1999. Thomas is the editor in chief. There is research Quarterly for Exercise and Sport. A reviewer for most major research journals in psychology. He served as president of the National Academy of Kinesiology, American Kinesiology Association, AAHPERD Research Consortium, and North American Society for Psychology of Sport and Physical Activity. He was named an AAHPERD Alliance Scholar in 1990 and a distinguished scholar in 2003 for his lifetime achievement in research. In the spring of 2015, Thomas received a doctorate of science from his alma mater.

Jack K. Nelson is an EdD. He is a professor at Louisiana State University. Nelson taught and conducted research for 35 years. He has been an adviser on more than 50 master?s theses. He has served as editor of research publications. He is a fellow in the Research Consortium, a member of the American Educational Research Association, and a member of the American College of Sports Medicine. He was vice president of AAHPERD and president of the Association for Research, Administration, Professional Councils and Societies.

Stephen Silverman is an EdD. For more than 30 years, he has written about research methods. He is a professor of education at Teachers College at Columbia University and his research focuses on how children learn motor skill and develop attitudes. He has published many books and book chapters. The American Alliance for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) Research Consortium is a fellow of the American Educational Research Association. A former editor.
