About the Author

Tudor O. He is the world’s foremost expert on periodization training. He helped the Eastern Bloc countries rise to dominance in the athletic world by developing the concept of periodization of strength. The system has been used to train 11 Olympic and world championship medalists.

The second edition of Serious Strength Training, Periodization Training for Sports, and Total Training for Young Champs are just a few of the books written by the professor at York University. In more than 30 countries, he has made presentations on periodization training. Many top professional athletes and training specialists seek out his publications, conferences, and ideas. The couple live in Sharon, Ontario.

Haff is a PhD. He is an assistant professor in the School of Medicine at West Virginia University. Haff’s research focuses on performance effects in the areas of strength training, cycling, and nutrition.

Haff was invited to present his research on the periodization of strength training in the United Kingdom in 2008 at a national conference. Haff received an award from the West Virginia University School of Medicine. He received the NSCA Young Investigator of the Year Award in 2001.

Haff is a certified strength and conditioning specialist, a regional weightlifting coach, and a level 3 cycling coach. He is a coach and consultant for national-level and international-level weightlifters and cyclists as well as numerous collegiate athletes.

Haff has been on the association’s board of directors since 2007. He is a member of the European College of Sports Science. Haff was a member of the USA Weightlifting Sports Medicine Committee, USA Weightlifting Sport Science Committee, NSCA Research Committee, and the United States Olympic Committee Performance Enhancement Team for Weightlifting.

A competitive weightlifter at the national level for 14 years, Haff continues to enjoy weightlifting in his free time as well as cycling and cooking. Haff lives in West Virginia with his wife.
