Sean told the story of how he went from being a child with low-functioningautism to a successful man, journalist, and boyfriend in his presentation. Sean was alone when he was young. Many social unwritten rules that helped him become more connected with society resulted in renewed personal relationships. Sean is currently working as a reporter for the Youngstown Vindicator.

Temple Grandin, the world’s most accomplished and well-known adult with high-functioning autism, is a passionate and influential advocate for the humane treatment of animals. The 2010 movie based on her early life, starring Claire Danes, received seven Emmy Awards, a Golden Globe and a Peabody Award.

She is a professor of animal science at Colorado State University and has a doctorate in animal science from the University of Illinois. She specializes in livestock behavior and has pioneered the field of farm- animal welfare, using the insights gained from herautism to design humane livestock-handling systems that have changed animal agriculture around the world. Her innovations in equipment and auditing systems have changed the livestock industry, improving profitability and assuring consumers about the integrity of the food system.

Grandin is known for his explanation of how animals think. Her book in 2005. Animals in translation is about decoding animal behavior. Spending weeks on. The New York Times. The list of best sellers.

Grandin is a hypersensitive person to noise and other sensory stimuli. She did not talk until she was four years old. Professionals didn’t recognize her condition as autism for a long time because she exhibited many of the symptoms. Her parents were told she should be in a mental hospital. In her 1986 book, Grandin describes her way from the far side of darkness. Emergence is a term used for people on the spectrum. Until it was published a book that stunned the world because it was seen as a virtual death sentence to achievement and productivity in life.

She considers herself fortunate to have had good parents and good teachers throughout her education, as she was placed in a structured nursery school. A high school science teacher helped Grandin develop her unique strengths through science experiments. He opened his home to Grandin and took the time to teach her problem-solving skills. After attending a special boarding school with dairy cows and a stable with horses, she went on to have a career in animal behavior. Grandin says that animals saved him.

She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Franklin Pierce College in New Hampshire in 1970. She received her masters degree in animal science from Arizona State University in 1975, and her PhD in 1989. She teaches humane handling and animal welfare at Colorado State University. She advises graduate students on welfare issues in animal agriculture. She advocates for students who don’t have the motivation to succeed.
